Connecting With The Community: Toni-Yo-Yo Run for Fun

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that my word of intention for 2018 is Community. With that word of intention in mind, I am starting a regular blog series aimed at sharing ways that you can get involved in making our community a better place. For the first post in this series, I want to share the Toni-Yo-Yo Run For Fun with you.

What is this all about?

On September 23, 2018, join the Toni-Yo-Yo Run For Fun in raising funds for Silver Creek Pre-School For Early Learning and Development, a preschool where children with disabilities and typically developing children learn together in a positive, caring, and creative environment. There is both a 1K Kids Run for kids aged 0-10 and a 5K Run for anyone 10 and older. The run takes place in Toronto and you can find out more about it here.

What inspired this event?

In July 2016 Andrea’s son, Antonio, was born. He was failing to thrive and had special needs. He’s globally delayed, and the first known person with a new DNA “spelling mistake” in chromosome 16. Despite his rough start, Antonio has come along way, which Andrea says is in thanks to the support systems they had in place early on. Antonio’s journey has given Andrea a new mission in life: to support and inspire families whose children have special needs. The Toni-Yo-Yo Run For Fun is just the beginning and I know that Andrea will help many families through this run and beyond! Find out more about Andrea, Antonio, and their journey here.

How you can get involved.

There are a few ways you can help the Toni-Yo-Yo Run For Fun be a success!

  • Sign up to run with you children or on your own
  • Donate to Silver Creek Pre-School
  • Spread the word! Let your friends, family, and followers know about the run and encourage them to get involved.

I’m planning to be at the run with my family, I hope to see you there!
